Stafford Police Arrest Woman Caught On Camera Leaving ShopRite With Cart Of Unpaid Groceries

Stafford police have arrested a Manahawkin woman caught on surveillance camera leaving the ShopRite with a cart loaded with unpaid groceries, according to the police department's Facebook page.
Shop Rite of Manahawkin contacted the Stafford Township Police Department on April 21 to report a shoplifting that had taken place on March 25, 2017. ShopRite security discovered the incident while reviewing video surveillance footage.
ShopRite provided police with the video surveillance as well as still photographs of an unidentified female who selected various items throughout the store, placed them in her cart, and left the store passing all points of sale without paying.

Store security were able to utilize in-store video surveillance to see each individual item the suspect placed in her cart and were able to determine the exact value of the stolen groceries amounted to $305.61, according to the police report.
Photographs of the incident were posted on social media through Stafford Township Police Department’s Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter. The posts received numerous responses identifying the female as Rachel A. Jackson, 26 of Manahawkin. Jackson was charged with shoplifting, police said

Jackson was issued a complaint summons on May 5 pending a future court appearance at Ocean County Superior Court.
"The Stafford Police Department would like to thank the public for all of its support and assistance on social media with this incident," the release said.
The investigating Officer was Ptl. M. Lawrence, assisted by Detective Drew Smith.
