State Police Confirm Body Found On Island Off Little Egg Harbor

Man's body was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for an autopsy.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR - New Jersey State Police have confirmed that the body of an adult male has been found on an island in Barnegat Bay off Little Egg Harbor, according to app. com.

The body was recovered from Middle Island last Friday, Sgt. Jeffrey Flynn said today.

The unidentified man's body was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for an autopsy, he said.

The cause and manner of the man's death were still under investigation Monday.

A clammer from Tuckerton disappeared in January off Little Egg Harbor. Christopher Hugg, 45, was last heard from on a Thursday night. Despite a massive water and air search, only his boat was discovered on Hither Island in Barnegat Bay, with fishing gear on board, the U.S. Coast Guard has said.
