Waretown Police Set Aside A Safe Place To Exchange Online Items Or Even Children
Ocean Township police have set up spot outside of police headquarters

So you've sold an item or bought an item and want a safe place to complete the transaction?
No problem. The Ocean Township Police Department has a "Safe Exchange Zone" right outside police headquarters with 24-hour surveillance, according to the department's Facebook page.
"The “Safe Exchange Zone” program is intended to address the safety concerns brought about with on‐line purchases from websites such as Craigslist, eBay, Facebook groups, and classified ads, etc. and to provide a safe location for families with visitation rights to make the custodial exchange," according to the post.

Despite the new zone, police advised residents to still use caution.
"Not every buyer or seller you meet online is someone who is true with their intent," the post states.

The “Safe Exchange Zone” is located in the front visitor parking lot of the Ocean Township Police Department located at 50 Railroad Avenue in Waretown, New Jersey. Two designated parking spaces have been clearly marked for the program where buyers, sellers and parents can meet and make the exchange. The marked area is under 24 hour video surveillance which is recorded by state of the art security cameras.

"The Ocean Township Police Department will not be used to make illegal transactions of narcotics, dangerous or deadly weapons or any other dangerous materials," the post states. "In addition, department employees will not be used to witness or be a part of these transactions. We are just providing a safe location to conduct your transactions."
