27 Ridge Music Students Selected for Central Jersey Association
Members of band, chorus and orchestra chosen on basis of audition.
The Central Jersey Music Educators Association announced that 27 Ridge High School students were selected Central Jersey Region Band, Orchestra and Chorus for this school year. The winners then are eligible to try out for the all-state selections by the New Jersey Music Educators Association.
The students were selected through an audition process held in December.
Selected for the Symphonic Band were Kevin Lui on Bb clarinet, and Christina Tobin on Eb clarinet. The Region Band performed their annual concert on January 16 at Montgomery High School.

Selected for the Orchestra were Michelle Lee on violin I, Amanda Li on cello and Peter Woo on percussion. The Region Orchestra concert was held on January 29 at Monroe Township High School.
Twenty-two Ridge students were selected for Regional Women’s or Mixed Chorus, which performed their concert on January 30 at Hopewell Valley Central High School.

Performing in the Women’s Chorus were Sophie DeWil, Julia Grossmann, Madeline Kraft, Sally Marvi and Kelly Scharff.
Performing in the Mixed Chorus were Sunwoo Chae, Jessie Chan, Dan Choe, Samantha Cordasco, Sara DiDiego, Abel Flint, Catherine Kelly, Waverly Langston, Caroline Margiotta, Meghan McEneaney, Devin McGuire, John Morrow, Nicole Sumka, Emily Vaias, Matt VonBargen, Alex Wilke, and Lisa Wooldridge.
Each Ridge student on Dec. 11 competed against students from other schools in the Central New Jersey region. The audition consists of scales and a solo presentation. The band and orchestra audition also includes a sight reading test, while the chorus includes a voice part test.
