American Diabetes Association Hosting 'Tour de Cure' in Basking Ridge
Bernards residents are invited to join the celebration to help stop diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association is inviting residents of Bernards and Basking Ridge to join its annual Tour de Cure, a cycling event to help stop diabetes.
The event, to help raise funds for diabetes research, will take place on June 7 at the Verizon corporate campus in Basking Ridge.
“The Tour de Cure is more than just a bike ride. It’s a celebration of hope and a chance to raise critical funds to help the Association continue the work it has been doing these past 75 years,” Katy Lido, manager of the Skylands event, said in a release. “Every mile you ride and every dollar you raise brings us that much closer to stopping this disease that affects so many in our own community. With diabetes growing at near-epidemic proportions, the need for funds has never been greater.”

Cyclists from around the region will gather at one of four routes to participate in the event and raise money for the nearly 30 million Americans with diabetes. The event will feature routes for the casual cyclist, to experienced cyclists with trails from 10-mile family rides to 100-mile century rides, the ADA said. The routes include rest stops with food and volunteers to cheer on participants.
The Tour de Cure raises funds through registration fees and pledges collected by cyclists. For those interested in participating, cyclists can register for the Tour de Cure online.
