Basking Ridge World Record Attempt Boosts Lung Cancer Research
The students are hoping to break the world record for the longest hopscotch course and support lung cancer research at the same time.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A Ridge High School group is trying to set a Guinness World Record for the longest hopscotch course ever. The effort is part of an ongoing campaign to raise money for lung cancer research.
Legwork for Lungs, a network of high school lung cancer awareness clubs, is running the event.
To help these students reach their goal of 21,120 and break the world record, all you have to do is visit the Leap for Lungs website and purchase a virtual hopscotch square.

A square costs $5 and you can customize it with your initials or a phrase, for an extra fee. Once you buy it, you'll get a confirmation with its number and a tax-deductible receipt
They'll be laying down the four-mile course the week of July 22 in Basking Ridge and taking on the hop-a-thon on Saturday, July 27.

Over the past four years, Legwork for Lungs has raised over $30,000 for lung cancer research, the event's Facebook post says.
Individuals and organizations or businesses alike are welcome to purchase squares or sponsor the event.
