Bernards Township Charter Day Battle of the Musicians

Bernards Township's Charter Day is looking for bands and all musicians to participate in its Battle of Musicians.

Bernards Township is inviting all local musicians and bands to participate in its Charter Day Battle of the Bands.

The Township is celebrating its 255th anniversary on May 16 with shows, rides, games, food, entertainment and more. The Battle of the Musicians will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Henry Street Stage. Prizes will be awarded for bands or musicians that place in the top three -- first place, $150; second place, $100; third place, $50.

  • Any middle school or high school student may apply. For groups, a minimum of 50 percent of the band members must be middle or high school students. Priority acceptance will be given to Township residents, Bernards Township said.
  • Lyrics cannot contain obscenities. Groups that incite crowd violence will be disqualified.
  • Equipment will be provided by Wavelength Audio Video, including PA main speakers, flood monitor and microphones. Musicians are responsible for musical instruments, amplifiers and recorded music.
  • Musicians will have 15 minutes in between performances to get ready on stage and 20 minutes performance time.
  • All musicians on the application must be present during the announcement of winners to receive a prize.

Registration for the Battle of the Musicians is Friday, May 1, and bands will be confirmed by May 4.
