Bernards Township Named Among Safest Cities in America

Safewise.com listed the 100 Safest Cities in America.

Bernards Township was named to a list of the 100 Safest Cities in America, according to Safewise.com.

Bernards Township was ranked No. 27 on the list of safest cities from SafeWise, a community-focused security organization committed to increasing safety education, awareness, and preparedness.

“South of Morristown, Bernards Township will celebrate the 255th anniversary of its founding in 2015,” the report said. “But this historic community also focuses on modern safety threats, with two emergency management police officers who coordinate with a counter-terrorism officer and various city departments.”

SafeWise reported the following statistics for Bernards Township:

  • Population: 26,880
  • Violent Crimes per 1,000: 0.74
  • Property Crimes per 1,000: 4.46

To compile the list, Safewise.com used the most recent Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) crime statistics from 2013. The website then combined the FBI data with its own research highlighting each city’s public safety, public health, and educational information.
