Congressman Collects Valentines for VA Veterans from Area Students
Rodney Frelinghuysen urges students to remember those in veterans' facilities around the state.
Valentine's Day is a special day, and U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen on Monday asked children in his district to make the day special for area veterans, including those at the N.J. Health Care System facility in Lyons.
Frelinghuysen on Monday stopped by five schools in district 11, including the , in Kinnelon, to collect valentines the students made for veterans at the Lyons and East Orange VA Medical Centers. He was accompanied by Jim Smith, a veteran from the Chester American Legion Unit 342.
"It's a special day when we give valentines and such," Arianna Colon, who is in kindergarten at the in Bloomingdale when Frelinghuysen asked a gym full of students what the meaning of the holiday was.

The valentines will later be delivered to veterans in the VA hospitals in Lyons and in East Orange, according to Frelinghuysen's district office.
