Deadline Extended to Monday For "Take Control of Your Health" at Senior Center
Free siix-week workshop at Senior Wellness Center to begin next Wednesday, Feb. 9.

The deadline has been extended until next Monday to register for a county-sponsored series of workshops on "Take Control of Your Health," to be held at the in Basking Ridge.
Eighty-percent of older Americans are living with a long-term health condition. This free six-week workshop series is for adults and caregivers who want to take charge of long-term health problems, including arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis.
The Somerset County Office on Aging and Disabilities is sponsoring the workshop at two locations. One workshop series is scheduled to be held at the Somerset County Senior Wellness Center, located at 202 Mt. Airy Road in Bernards, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on six Wednesdays; Feb. 9, 16 and 23, March 2, 9 and 16.

The other workshop is due to be held on Tuesday at the county Human Services Building at 27 Warren St. in Somerville. The series is scheduled 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, 15 and 22, and March 1, 8 and 15.

Participants will receive a book, titled “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions,” and will learn skills that will help them take a more active role in managing their health. The interactive course will provide the tools needed to manage symptoms, work with health care professionals, set weekly goals for behavior change, use relaxation techniques and exercise safely and easily.
