Driver Critically Injured In 3-Car Crash In Basking Ridge
The Bernards Township Police, along with the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, are investigating the crash.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — One driver is critically injured following a three-car crash in Basking Ridge earlier this week. The Bernards Township Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
On Tuesday, at around 5 p.m., Bernards Township Police went to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Mt. Airy Road at the Interstate 287 entrance ramp junction.
An initial investigation found that a Bernardsville resident was driving a 2009 Honda Accord south on Mt. Airy Road, approaching the junction of the I-287 entrance ramp, when they hit a 2018 Honda Civic waiting to turn onto the I-287 northbound entrance ramp, said Bernards Township Police Chief Timothy King.

The rear-end hit from the Accord caused the Civic to enter the northbound lane of Mt. Airy Road, where the Civic hit a 2024 Rivian R1S driving north, said King.
The Rivian, driven by a Springfield resident, then drove off the road before stopping on the grass shoulder.

Due to the crash, the driver of the Honda Civic, a Whippany resident, was unable to get out of the car.
Bernards Township Officers were able to rescue the victim from the vehicle and provide medical aid.
The driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Rivian was taken to another area hospital with injuries.
The driver of the Honda Accord did not report any injuries.
