Environmental Education Center Announces Upcoming Events

Check out some of the upcoming events for kids and families at the Environmental Education Center for the week of March 30 through April 5.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center has announced a series of events for the week of March 30 through April 5. The Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs for children and adults as spring begins.

Children, teen and child/parent programs

Spring Sensations Monday, March 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Children ages infant to 5 with a parent will enjoy a naturalist-led walk to experience spring using all five senses. Fee is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child. Advance payment required.

River Rats Saturdays, April 4, 11, 18, and 25, from 10:30 a.m. to noon

Children ages 5 to 8 will enjoy a weekend learning adventure, joining a naturalist for a themed exploration of the Great Swamp. Fee is $36 per person for the four-day session. Advance payment required

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

Garden Discovery Tour The Orchid Show Wednesday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adults will join a naturalist on a trip to the Victorian Enid A. Haupt Conservatory for the Annual New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show, the nation’s most comprehensive orchid exhibition with 300 types of orchids and 5,000 plants. Fee is $55 per adult and $45 per senior. Advance payment required.
