Family Movie Night At The Ross Farm In Basking Ridge, Aug. 1

Galaxy Quest will be shown on the hill behind the barn of the historic Ross Farm in Basking Ridge on Saturday, August 1.

Once again, the Friends of the Boudinot-Southard-Ross Estate on North Maple Avenue are stepping away from the history books to offer a different kind of fun as they host their first Family Movie Night on Saturday, August 1.

Through the generous support of One Dream, owned by Basking Ridge residents David and Katie Ferdinand, 1999’s campy sci-fi classic “Galaxy Quest” will be screened on the big hill behind the barn on the estate at 135 North Maple Avenue. The property will open at 7:30 p.m., with the movie rolling at dusk.

Galaxy Quest is the story of an alumni cast of a space opera television series who must play their roles as the real thing when an alien space race needs their help. While it carries a PG rating, parents can always check the Parents’ Guide at imdb.com for a quick rundown of the film!

All are welcome, but children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian as this is not considered a “drop-off event.” Families and friends are encouraged to come early enough to spread a blanket or beach chairs and enjoy a picnic before the movie rolls. Mosquito repellant is recommended and baked goods, beverages and glow sticks will be available for purchase.

The Friends of the Boudinot-Southard-Ross Estate is a 501(3) charity, and as such, always grateful for any monetary donations, so please look for the donation jars on site during Family Movie Night. The entrance to the estate, for those who are not aware, is through the large white gate on North Maple Avenue between Birch Drive and Maple Run.
