Rain Cancels 'King Lear' Play in PVP Park on Thursday
Lots of ways to enjoy the outdoors on Thursday, if weather permits.

With summer half over, it's time to make sure you really do get to enjoy summer activities while you have a chance. However, due to rain, you may have to put those outdoors pleasures off to another day on Thursday.
Rain forced the cancellation of the first of four nights of Trilogy Repertory Co.'s production (in cooperation with the Troupe of Friends from Westfield and the Bernards Township Parks and Recreation Department) production of "King Lear." The play is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
The play still is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Bring your own seating, snacks and, in case of drizzle, rain gear. Heavy rain cancels.
If you've finished some of your poolside or beach reading already, pack up your spare books to bring to the Bernardsville Middle School, will be the site for this week's continuing collection of books for the upcoming book sale organized each August by the Somerset Hills American Association of University Women.

The collection of books and DVDs and CDs began on Monday, and continues through Thursday and then next Monday, August 5, according to the web site for the Somerset Hills AAUW. The collection hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students and other volunteers are being asked to receive bags of books at the loading dock; sort and set up books on tables, and later pack up unsold books.
The actual sale itself this year is from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 and Friday, Aug. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. The sale benefits the AAUW's scholarships program, local libraries and other charities.
Those interested in volunteering should call Bonnie at 908-647-2791.
