ICYMI: Basking Ridge School Receives $150K Donation

The Saint James School in Basking Ridge has received a donation of $150,000, supportingseveral technological enhancements at the school.

The school, located at 200 S. Finley Ave., received the donation from the Laurie H. Wollmuth Charitable Trust. The Wollmuth family are parishioners of Saint James Catholic Church, school officials said.

“The generosity of the Wollmuth family will enhance the learning experiences of all Saint James School students by providing additional interactive technology tools to foster a more collaborative learning environment” Monsignor Sylvester Cronin, Pastor of Saint James Church, said.

The donation will provide several significant technological improvements at the school, which teaches students from pre-school and kindergarten to grade eight. The improved technology will allow students to further engage in one-to-one learning, school officials said.

The technological enhancements at the school include a SMART Table at the Saint James Preschool to encourage social and academic development, a new SMART Board in the school’s computer lab, Epson Interactive Projectors in every classroom and more than 220 Google Chromebooks. Middle school students at Saint James School will be allowed to travel from class to class with their Chromebooks, while children in grades K through four will be allowed to use their Chromebooks from their homerooms.

Cronin learned of the donation in February and installation of the technology has already begun. The technological enhancements supported by the donation will be implemented over the next two months.
