Basking Ridge Man Among Those Charged With Selling Drugs at VA Medical Centers

A Basking Ridge man is one of seven who have been accused by federal authorities of selling heroin to veterans being treated at two New Jersey VA medical centers, including the one in Lyons. In addition to separately being charged for allegedly distributing heroin, other drugs allegedly were also sold at the facilities, including crack and hydromorphone. VA medical centers seek to offer medical and rehabilitation treatment for veterans, including drug rehabilitation, in addition to offering social services and vocational training.

Car Fire Heats Up Route 287 in Basking Ridge

The Basking Ridge Fire Company and EMS battled a car fire on Route 287 northbound just south of exit 30 on a very hot and humid afternoon. Traffic backed up quickly as the volunteers were called shortly before 1 p.m. to the fire, which was extinguished quickly with no injuries reported, according to the Basking Ridge Fire Company.
