Two Basking Ridge natives at separate universities received honors for their academic achievements.
Kristen Hilbert, of Basking Ridge and student at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, received the Bowdoin Romance Languages Department’s 2015 Dane Prize in Italian. Hilbert received the award at Bowdoin’s Honors Day ceremony on Wednesday, May 6. She is pursuing a degree in romance languages and a minor in government and legal studies.
Timothy Janes, of Basking Ridge and student at the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, was recently inducted into a prestigious honor society at the university. Janes was among 45 students at Scranton to be inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit honor society, according to the university.

Alpha Sigma Nu is the only honor society open to students and faculty in all disciplines of the University of Scranton. According to the university, juniors and seniors who have distinguished themselves in scholarship, loyalty and service are eligible for nomination by chapter members. Appointments are made by the president of the University on the recommendation of the moderator and chapter members of the society, and no more than four percent of the junior and senior class may be admitted each year.
