Lord Stirling Hosts Moonlight Ride For Private Horse Owners

Registration underway for a nighttime fall ride on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge will host a guided moonlight ride for private horse owners Saturday, Sept. 25 from 8 to 10 p.m. An experienced trail guide will accompany participants in groups of no more than eight riders.

The moonlight rides are a popular activity offered by the stable, part of the Somerset County Park Commission, and fall is an especially desirable time for a nighttime exploration of the trails through the 450-acre property, according to a spokesman for the park commission. Riders will head out from the stable's main facility at 256 S. Maple Ave., to explore the park's 18-mile-long trail system through woods and fields.

In-person registration is open at the stable office from Monday, Sept. 13 through Thursday Sept. 23. Fee is $15 for 2010 trail card holders and $20 for horse owners who do not have a trail card.
