BASKING RIDGE, NJ—Jersey Central Power & Light restored power to nearly all of Bernards Township on Sunday, the result of an all-out effort by the utility and pressure from public officials.

"JCP&L has assured us there are and would be many line crews working in our area today," a statement by the town read Sunday morning, when there were 677 without power. Sunday afternoon, the number of outages continued to drop, and there were more than a dozen utility trucks staged in a lot near Lyons Station, with others deployed throughout town.

By early Monday morning, the number of customers in town without service was less than 25.
