Nearly 2K Still Without Power In Bernards
Frustration is mounting as JCP&L fails to deliver on '85 percent' goal
BASKING RIDGE, NJ—Four days after Tropical Storm Isaias blasted New Jersey, thousands of homes and businesses in Bernards are still without power, angering customers and officials.
Bernards Township Mayor James Baldassarre said he and his staff have been "pressing JCP&L to get as much done as soon as possible."
But despite promises from the utility that 85 percent of customers would have electricity restored by Friday night, Bernards still reported 1,925 outages on Saturday, part of 5,674 in Somerset County.

"More than 8,000 utility personnel...continue working around the clock to restore power," said a statement by Cliff Cole, JCP&L spokesman. The company has said power will be back on to nearly all customers by 11 p.m. Tuesday.
