School Lunch Prices to Increase in Bernards Schools This Fall
Milk, lunch prices to go up in Bernards Township.

Bernards Township students may only be thinking of summer barbecues or casual vacation meals at this time of year, but they will discover that school lunches are going up somewhat in price when they return to school next fall.
According to the Board of Education office, the school lunch prices approved at the last school board meeting represent a 10-cent per meal increase for elementary and middle school lunches.
The new lunch prices will be $2.30 at each of the township's four elementary schools and $2.45 at the William Annin Middle School.

The cost of milk to accompany those school luches is going up a nickel, an increase to 60 cents per carton, according to the board office.
A la carte items at Ridge High School and other schools will rise by 5 cents each, according to the school board.

Food service companies are required to follow state guidelines on the state website which calculates a recommended increase based on where what lunches cost now, according to the Board of Education.
