Special Election, Pool Closing Earlier This Week
Special primary election to be held this week to select party candidates for U.S. Senate.

Consider it a harbinger of fall. The Pleasant Valley Pool's hours will be pared a little this week — as of Monday the municipal pool off Valley Road's regular daily hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Summer's lighter meeting schedule will continue this week however, but partially because of a special election on Tuesday.
The regularly scheduled Bernards Township Committee meeting for that evening is canceled, in order to allow for the election to be held to select party candidates to run for election to fill the expired term of the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died in June.
However, the Bernards Township Sewerage Authority Meeting still is on for 6:30 p.m. that night at the municipal building at 1 Collyer Lane.
And coming up on Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. is the rescheduled Party in the Park at the outdoors amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park off Valley Road in Basking Ridge. There will be a live DJ and a showing of The Avengers movie at 8 p.m.
