SWAT Team Called To Incident At Somerset County Home

While barricaded in his room, the suspect threatened officers located in the hallway with an unknown metal object.

The Somerset County SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Team was called to the home of a 50-year-old Manville man on Wednesday after he barricaded himself in his room at a boarding house located on Wyoming Place.

According to authorities, Manville Police received a call from the Chester House Bar on North Main Street around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday stating that Edward Iannacone had entered the establishment and verbally threatened patrons. Responding officers later tracked Iannacone back to his residence.

While barricaded in his room, Iannacone threatened officers located in the hallway with an unknown metal object by banging the object against the inside of the door and stating, “if you guys come in with all your weapons I have mine,” The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The SWAT Team was then requested by Manville police. SWAT team members made contact with Iannacone around 11:45 p.m. And took him into custody without further incident.

He was transported to an area hospital for observation.
