Another Gloomy Day At Ocean County Beaches

Low rip current risk, but showers and thunderstorms are possible, National Weather Service says

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - The beach weather forecast for today is like a bad script. Cloudy skies, a chance of showers and thunderstorms and cool temperatures.

The National Weather Service says the chance of rip currents today is low. But rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Most beaches are still unguarded on weekdays, so please don't think about swimming. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night.

The lightning threat today is moderate, which means that thunderstorms are possible. Highs today will be in the mid 70s. The ultraviolet index is a 5, which the NWS considers moderate.
