Bayville Man Charged With Drunk Driving In Holiday City

Robert N. Castro Jr., 50, said he became distracted and hit several parked cars.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Berkeley police have charged a Bayville man with drunk driving and reckless driving after he hit several parked cars in Holiday City recently, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman DJ Williams and Officer Worden responded to the 400 block of Western Boulevard on May 25 on a report of a crash involving several parked vehicles. They found a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the road with body damage, the chief said.

The driver, Robert N. Castro Jr., 50, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and admitted he had several drinks earlier that evening. Castro also admitted that he became distracted while driving and crashed into the vehicles. He was given standardized field sobriety tests, then arrested, DiMichele said.

Castro was processed at police headquarters, then released to the care of a family member. Castro was also charged with reckless and careless driving. His Chevy was impounded as per John's Law, the chief said.
