Benefit For Project Terrapin Coming Up On Saturday

The high school group is holding a 10th anniversary celebration at Jakes Branch County Park On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

BEACHWOOD, NJ - Project Terrapin, a volunteer group that supports diamondback terrapin research and conservation at the Jersey Shore, will hold a "Walk for Turtles" event to celebrate their 10th anniversary on Saturday.

The group is made up of high school students from the Marine Academy of Technoloy and Environmental Science in Manahawkin, led by Dr. John Wnek.

"...the support they give us in helping diamondback terrapin that were owned as pets or taken from their natural habitat which put them at risk is immeasurable," according to a post on the Associated Humane Societies Popcorn Park Facebook page.

The walk will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jakes Branch County Park in Beachwood.

The event will include a walk for all fitness levels, children's activities, displays and a barbecue.
