Berkeley Cops Charge Man With Driving Drunk On One-Way Street

Pedro R. Saenz 3rd, 27, of Toms River, also arrested for driving the wrong way on the one-way street in Holiday City

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Berkeley police recently arrested a Toms River man for drunk driving after he drove the wrong way on a Holiday City Street, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Shane Leighton stopped Pedro R. Saenz 3rd, 27, on April 19 near the intersection of Mule Road and South Charlotteville Drive after he saw him drive his black Hyundai Elantra over Mule Road, across the grassy median, then try to travel southbound in the northbound lane, the chief said.

Leighton said that Saenz appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He arrested Saenz after he administered field sobriety tests, DiMichele said.

Pedro was taken to police headquarters and charged with driving under the influence, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and reckless driving. He was released to the care of a family friend, the chief said.

His car was impounded pursuant to John's Law.
