Berkeley Police Charge Pine Beach Man With Burglarizing A's Garden Center
Tamer Hassan facing burglary, theft and drug charges.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Police recently arrested a Pine Beach man and charged him with the burglary of A's Garden Center on Route 9 in Bayville, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichael said.
Police responded to the garden center at 8:53 p.m. on May 9 on a report of a suspicious male inside the secured yard after the store had closed. They stopped Tamer Hassan, 29, attempting to flee the store on foot, the chief said.
Hassan had Suboxone in his possession which he did not have a prescription for and was placed under arrest. He was later charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, DiMichele said.

The owner of the store was notified by the alarm company about an alarm activation the same night.
When police checked the are they found numerous unopened power tools on the ground outside and inside the fenced area of the year. The rear entry door was ajar and unsecured. The locking glass case were the power tools were stored was open, the chief said.

Police received another call from the store's owner on May 10. He told them the subject matching the description from the video surveillance of the burglary returned to the store and was looking at power tools, DiMichele said.
Detective William Somers is the case detective. He was assisted by Detective Michael Riccardelli along with Detective Michael O'Connor.
