Berkeley Will Use Grant Money For Holiday City Road Upgrade
State Department of Transportation will pay $340,000 of $420,000 project, mayor says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - A grant from the state Department of Transportation will pay for the bulk of improvements to Fort De France Avenue, a major roadway in Holiday City, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.
Berkeley will receive $340,000 for the project, which will cost $420,000. The balance of the funding will come from the township's capital budget, he said.
"I was pleased to receive notification from the Department of Transportation notifying us of the grant award," the mayor said. "I want to thank the department for looking favorably upon our application and our Township Engineer Alan Dittenhofer for submitting our application."
Fort De France will be milled and repaved. Sidewalk work will be done and handicapped ramps will be installed at the intersections, Amato said.
