The Calm Before The Storm - Ocean County Beach Weather Report For July 28, 2017

The NWS has issued a flash flood watch beginning at 2 p.m. and running into Saturday.

If you are planning on going to the beach, do it today. There's a Nor'easter coming on Saturday.

The National Weather Service is calling for partly sunny skies with a small chance of showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the northeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents today. But rips can still occur, especially near jetties and other structures. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.

Waves today will be around 3 feet with southerly swells of 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. The lightning threat is low, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms today.

Low tide rolled in at 6:32 a.m. High tide will arrive at 12:34 p.m., followed by another low tide t 6:48 p.m.
