Cardboard Boat Race To Set Sail In Ocean Gate

It's time to break out the cardboard and scissors: the Ocean Gate First Aid Squad's annual cardboard boat race returns Saturday.

OCEAN GATE, NJ — It's time to break out the cardboard and scissors: Ocean Gate First Aid Squad’s annual cardboard boat race returns Saturday at 12 p.m.

Using only cardboard, duct tape and their creativity, participants must craft a vessel that can float in the water at Wildwood Avenue Pier in Ocean Gate.

Categories in the race are divided among ages 8-11, 12-17, 18 and up, or families and community organizations.

Besides trophies for each category, there will also be awards for the most spirited, most dramatic sinking and the judge's award.

Boat entry costs $20 the day of the race. Admission to watch is free.
