Rough surf, moderate rip current risk on tap for today

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a chance of thunderstorms. The lighting threat is high.

Highs will be in the lower 80s. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The ultraviolet risk is 7, which the National Weather Service considers high.

Surf will be rough today with waves up to three to six feet and light swells. There's a moderate risk of rip currents, which means you should always swim near lifeguards. Never swim alone or at night. The National Weather Service suggest that you always bring a floatation device with you in the water.

The surf temperature is still a chilly 66 degrees.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 7:35 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 1:48 p.m., followed by another high tide at 7:57 p.m.
