Driver Seriously Hurt After Hitting Truck On Route 9 In Berkeley: PD
A Toyota hit a Ford F-250 that was stopped on Route 9 after hitting a concrete block on Saturday, police said.
BERKELEY, NJ — One person was seriously injured Saturday when a car hit a pickup truck that was stopped on Route 9 near Hickory Lane, Berkeley Township police said.
Berkeley police did not identify either driver.
Police said the preliminary investigation shows the driver of a Ford F-250 pickup truck that was towing a trailer was trying to turn around on Route 9 when he backed into a concrete block on the shoulder of the road, stopping the pickup and trailer in the middle of the road.

The pickup truck driver got out to check out the concrete block he had backed into, police said.
As the pickup truck driver was checking on the concrete block, a Toyota Corolla that was headed south on Route 9 hit the pickup truck, police said.

The driver of the Corolla sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.
Route 9 was closed between Hickory Lane and Station Road for about an hour, police said.
Berkeley Township Patrolman Ryan Wahl of the department's Traffic Safety Bureau is investigating.
