Emiliana’s Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization formed in memory and in honor of Emiliana Rose O’Brien. After a courageous battle with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, Emiliana died on Dec. 1, 2015 at 13 years old.
According to the foundation’s website, “It is our mission to improve the lives of pediatric cancer patients with HOPE and their families with comfort, while creating awareness of pediatric cancer.”
At Berkeley Township's recent council meeting, Mayor Carmen Amato proclaimed September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Sept. 17 as Emiliana Day.
The proclamation encourages Berkeley residents to wear gold on Sept. 17 and display gold bows on homes and businesses in support of pediatric cancer patients and their families.
