Giving Tuesday is a global initiative that brings people together to harness the potential of collective generosity. Fortunately for folks in the Berkeley area, there’s no shortage of organizations nearby that could greatly benefit from your support.

Here are five outstanding organizations in the Berkeley area. Please consider volunteering or donating to them for Giving Tuesday and beyond.


  1. Friends of the Berkeley Library — This volunteer-led organization is dedicated to supporting the Berkeley Library. The Friends of the Berkeley Library organizes fundraising events, assists with the branch’s programs and activities and serve as important community advocates for the library and its services.   2. Berkeley Little League — Supporting nearly 400 players, the Berkeley Little League is dedicated to providing a space for every child to learn baseball. Berkeley Little League has six different divisions, offering options for tee-ball players as well as older players. Learn more at berkeleylittleleague.org/.
  3. CASA Ocean County — Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are adult volunteers who serve as the voice for abused and neglected children in the courtroom. CASA volunteers meet with a child’s family, teachers and doctor in order to make recommendations that are based in the child’s best interest. Learn more at casaofoceancounty.org/
  4. The Ark Ocean County Chapter — This organization is dedicated to supporting disabled adults and advocating for their acceptance in the community. The Ark provides services for housing, job training and family support.   5. The Hope Center — Since 2008, the Hope Center has been serving Ocean County residents by providing a food pantry, community garden, utility assistance and more.
