High Rip Current Risk For Ocean County Beaches On Monday

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Although the torrential rain of Sunday night has moved on, there's still a high chance of rip currents today on Ocean County beaches.

That means stay out of the ocean, the National Weather Service says.

"A high risk of rip currents means dangerous and potentially life threatening conditions exist for all people entering the surf," the NWS says. "People visiting the beaches should stay out of the high surf."

Waves will be from 4 to 6 feet with easterly swells of around 4 feet. The ocean water temperatures is a chilly 61 degrees.

Skies will be mostly cloudy and there's a chance of showers. There is no lightning threat. Highs will be in the upper 60s. Winds will be from the northeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet was at 6:37 a.m. High tide will arrive at 12:38 p.m., followed by another low tide at 6:30 p.m.
