Island Beach State Park Is Filled To Capacity, For Now
Park will probably be closed off and on over the next several days, due to excessive heat

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ -"Island Beach State Park is now closed to capacity."
Chances are, that will be a familiar message on the state Department of Environmental Protection's Facebook page over the next few days, the excessive heat continues.
The park will periodically close to visitors as capacity is reached at the parking lots and two bathing beaches.

But you can check the park's Facebook page during the day to check the park's status. The "closed" status can change as people leave the park and the park reopens.
"We usually reopen within 1-3 hours, depending on incoming traffic and the number of vehicles leaving from the swim areas," the page states.
