Kathleen T. Pereira, First Female Berkeley Township Council President, Dies At 67

Kathleen T. Pereira of Bayville died on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. She was 67.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, she moved to Bayville 42 years ago.

Kathleen was a nurse's aide at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville.
She was a parishioner of St. Barnabas RC Church, Bayville and she loved to quilt. Kathleen was elected the first female council president of Berkeley Township in 1985.

Kathleen was predeceased by her grandson Alexander and her three brothers Raymond, Robert, and Edward.
She is survived by her husband Manuel "Manny" Pereira, two daughters Sandra Kaltz and Naomi Caton, both of Bayville, two brothers Leslie Loneker of Elizabeth, NJ and Ronald Loneker of Scotch Plains, NJ, a sister Gail Hickey of Bayville, and four grandchildren Mason, Grace, Riley and Ryan.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a funeral service slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O'Connell Chapel, 706 Hwy 9, Bayville, NJ. Committal will be private.
