Man Dies In Fatal Crash On Double Trouble Road In Berkeley
Accident happened near the Garden State Parkway exit.
An elderly Burlington County man died Sunday afternoon when his car struck another car as he was heading onto Double Trouble Road after leaving the Garden State Parkway, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Police did not release the 92-year-old man's name. He was entrapped in his 2014 Ford Fusion after he slowly began to emerge from the parkway ramp exist onto Double Trouble Road. He was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m., said Al Della Fave.
OCPO fatal accident investigator Brant Uricks' preliminary investigation with Patrolman Hendrickson of the Berkeley Police Traffic Safety Unit shows that Ford Fusion was stopped at the stop sign on the GSP exit ramp, and began to slowly emerge from the ramp when it was struck on the driver's side door by a 1997 Ford F250 driven by a 49-year-old Berkeley Township man, he said.

The driver of the pickup gave a taped statement to police.
"Preliminarily it appears the driver of V1 (deceased) failed to stop or yield to the right of way," Della Fave said. "A medical event of the deceased contributing to the crash cannot be ruled out at this time."
