National Weather Service: Moderate Risk Of Rip Currents Today

Soggy weather, storms and cold ocean temperatures will keep most people out of the water

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Even if you are thinking about swimming in the ocean today, you might want to reconsider.

The National Weather Service is calling for a moderate risk of rip currents today, chilly ocean temperatures and a good chance of showers and thunderstorms. The lightning threat is high.

But if you are still determined to swim at a guarded beach, be sure to check with local beach patrols first. Always swim within sight of a lifeguard, and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.
