Ocean Gate Court Hearing For Pit Bull's Fatal Attack On Poodle Adjourned Until August
Pit bull owner wants more time to get an attorney, police say.

A hearing in Ocean Gate Municipal Court over a pit bull attack on a poodle that died from its injuries has been adjourned until August, Lt. Michael Kushta said.
"The judge gave the dog owner an opportunity to get counsel due to the severity of this case," Kushta said.
Carol Hulbirt-Jackson's husband was walking the little poodle on a leash on East Cape May Avenue in late May when the pit bull, which was unleashed, approached. Her husband snapped up Saphira and was bitten by the pit bull and dropped his dog. The pit bill then went after Saphira.

"This dog proceeded to drag, shred and rip the poodle apart," according to the GoFundMe page established to help the family with veterinary bills.
The little dog suffered four large wounds and lost an eye. She wasn't even a year old. She was rushed to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital but died less than two days later.
