One Swimming Area At Island Beach Closed Until Saturday
Closure of Bathing Beach 2 is due to a shortage of lifeguards for the next two days
ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK - Swimmers visiting Island Beach State Park today and tomorrow will have to make do with just one bathing beach, due to a lifeguard shortage, according to the park's Facebook page.
The second swimming area will reopen on Saturday through Labor Day, the post states.
Lifeguards will also be on duty after Labor Day at swimming area 1 beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 7 through Sept.9, Sept. 14 through Sept. 16, Sept. 21 through Sept. 23 and Sept. 28 through Sept. 30, state Department of Environmental Protection spokesperson Larry Hajna said.
