Rip Current Risk In Ocean County Is Still Dangerously High - Don't Go In The Water

The skies over Ocean County beaches will be sunny today, but danger lurks in the water. So just look, don't swim.

There's a high risk of rip currents until 8 p.m.

"A high risk of rip currents means dangerous and life-threatening conditions exist for all people entering the surf," the NWS said. "People visiting the beaches should stay out of the water."

Wave heights will reach 7 to 9 feet today, with northeast swells around six feet. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees.

Highs today will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the northeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers very high. There is no lightning threat today.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet rolled in at 8:08 a.m. High tide will arrive at 1:38 p.m., followed by another low tide at 8:42 p.m.
