Rip Current Risk Is Still Moderate, But Calmer Seas On Ocean County Beaches Today

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s at Ocean County beaches today.

Winds will be from the west at five miles per hour, becoming south in the afternoon. The ultraviolet risk is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. There is no lightning threat.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents today. That means you should always check with your local beach patrol before heading into the water. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you always have a flotation device with you in the water.

Waves will be around two feet, with easterly swells of two feet. The ocean water temperature is 71 degrees, cooler than the temperatures of the last several weeks.

Low tide at Barnegat Inlet will roll in 9:48 a.m. High tide will arrive at 4:03 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:32 p.m.
