Strong Storms Rip Through Ocean County, National Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory
Things should calm down later this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and strong thunderstorms until later this evening for much of Ocean County.
The wind advisory is in effect until 5 p.m., with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour. The wind will be accompanied by showers and thunderstorms, and possibly hail, before tapering off to scattered showers between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Winds will switch to the southwest at 14 to 18 miles an hour later this evening. The chance of precipitation tonight is 30 percent, the NWS says.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms, along with torrential rainfall, which may cause localized flooding.
"These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information stations and available television stations for additional information," the NWS says.
