Sunny Skies, Calm Seas Ahead For Ocean County Beaches

Low rip current risk today, ocean water temperatures still chilly.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today with a low chance of rip currents at Ocean County beaches.

Highs today will only hit the upper 70s. Winds will be from the north at 5 to 10 mph. There's no rain in sight and no lightning threat.

Waves will be around 2 feet, much calmer than they were over the weekend. Expect southerly swells of around 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is still a chilly 68 degrees.

The rip current risk is low today. But rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Do your homework and find a guarded beach. Never swim alone or an night. Don't be a statistic this summer.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. So bring the sunscreen if you're planning on working on a tan.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet arrived at 6:26 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 12:37 a.m., followed by another high tide at 6:50 p.m.
