Suspects Used Phony $100 Bill To Buy Items From Dollar Store

Incident took place at the Dollar General Store on Route 9 in Bayville, police chief says

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Talk about irony.

Two people tried to pay for some items at the Dollar General Store at 720 Route 9 with a counterfeit $100, bill recently, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

The incident happened on Feb. 5, when the suspects tried to pay for the items with the phony bill. When store management confronted the two, they fled the area in a dark-colored sports utility vehicle, the chief said.

"The Berkeley Township Police Department is currently working with the company’s security and loss prevention department to obtain additional leads on this case," DiMichele said.
