Thunderstorms And Showers Possible At Ocean County Beaches Today
The rip current risk is moderate, ocean temperatures are still warming up

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Scattered thunderstorms are possible at Ocean County beaches today, ahead of the heat wave expected over the weekend and into next week, the National Weather Service says.
Skies will be partly sunny. Highs today will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the south at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The lightning threat is moderate.
There's also a moderate threat of rip currents. Check with your local beach patrol about surf conditions before you go into the water. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Don't be a statistic this summer. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you.

Waves will be around 3 feet, with southeasterly swells of 3 to 4 feet. The ocean water temperature is 70 degrees, about the highest so far this season.
The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. So bring the sunscreen if you plan to work on a tan.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet arrived at 8:39 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 2:44 p.m., followed by another high tide at 8:52 p.m.
