Service was restored after being knocked out for about an hour.
BRICK, NJ ā Electric service has been restored to about 5,200 homes and businesses in Brick that had started Memorial Day weekend without power, according to Jersey Central Power & Light officials.
The FirstEnergy outage map showed had two large outages ā one in the Herbertsville section with more than 3,300 homes and businesses and one in the Midstreams section affecting more than 1,600.
The large outages were restored by about 4 p.m., said Christopher Hoenig, a spokesman for JCP&L.

Hoenig said the outages were the result of a transmission line that tripped and knocked out an entire substation.
"We had to back-feed the substation," he said.

There were several individual outages remaining, scattered around Brick, that appear to be unrelated to the larger outage, almost all of them north of the Laurelton interchange area.
