Bayfront Communities Flooded, Route 35 Closed In Brick
Water levels remain high as runoff from the storm overnight combines with tidal flow in the bayfront communities in Brick.

BRICK, NJ — Flooding continues to affect a number of streets and homes along the bayfront areas of Brick Township on Wednesday as runoff from Tuesday night's storm combines with tidal water to cause problems.
Route 35 was closed south of Sixth Avenue at the Route 35 north spur because of flooding, according to 511nj.org, the state Department of Transportation website. In addition, Route 35 south was partially flooded just south of Normandy Beach, the NJDOT said.
Residents of Brick's bayside communities that flood were reporting several inches of water in the roads. In Cherry Quay, water was covering docks and several roads were impassable.

Shore Acres also was under water. Photos published by Jim Murdoch of News 12 showed roads with water up to the bottoms of vehicles.
Brick Township received 2.75 inches of rain from Tuesday's storm, according to information reported to the National Weather Service, and Barnegat Bay was still sitting well above flood stage according to the weather service gauge at the Mantoloking Bridge. That gauge reported a peak of 3.86 feet — 2.15 feet above flood stage — at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and peaked at 3.77 feet after the Wednesday morning high tide.

The township suffered a handful of power outages and fewer than 20 homes remained without electricity as of 1 p.m.
The next low tide at the Mantoloking Bridge is at 5:47 p.m. There could be additional flooding with the next high tide, at 11:24 p.m., but the prediction for that tide is for it to be under 3 feet.
